White Noise Machine for Baby | Solution to Crying Babies

A white noise machine and the sound it makes can help your baby sleep soundly and peacefully. It's amazing.

Something that can wake us up, keep us awake and maybe even drive us crazy if we can't get rid of it, can cause a baby to be sound asleep.

If you don't believe me, try this. The next time your baby is crying, get really close to her ear and shush loudly and constantly.

This is the same sound that a white noise machine makes. Don't be afraid of it being too loud.

Whatever your volume is, make sure your shush is louder than her crying. And then be amazed by it's results. You'll see that it will actually help baby sleep.

When I first tried this technique on my baby girl, I was amazed at how quickly and effectively it worked. It doesn't quite work if the baby is hungry, has a dirty diaper or is experiencing discomfort from a sickness, but it works just about every other time.

Now a white noise machine will make the same sound as your shushing noise and will have the same effect as well. So the big question is, why does it quiet a crying baby?

The reason is very simple. The baby has just emerged from 9 months in their mommy's tummy. Now the mommy's tummy is not a quiet place. If you don't believe me, just put your ear on someone's tummy and you'll hear all kinds of noise. And that's just what you hear on the outside. Just imagine all the sounds that are actually going on in there.

Your baby has just spent 9 months in that mommy's tummy with constant noise from the stomach gurgling, to muzzled sounds of the outside world through the tummy and amniotic fluid, on top of many other constant noises. After 9 months of it, your baby has gotten used to that sound, and it brings her comfort.

So when you shush or you use a white noise machine, you are recreating the audio environment that she has lived in for 9 months and have gotten used to. The same principle is at work when you are doing other things that create this type of noise.

Have you ever heard of parents using tactics such as vacuuming, turning on the hair dryer and driving their baby around in the car to get them to sleep? And it works! Why? Because they are recreating the audio environment that makes the baby safe and secure. Silence is actually foreign to them.

There is nothing like having a baby of your own. It's an amazing experience. I've only imagined how wonderful it would be to have one, but now I can truly attest that it is amazing.

But sometimes this sense of wonder, love and joy can be invaded by frustration, tiredness and exhaustion when a baby can't seem to stop crying, especially if he is crying in the middle of the night. It's equally amazing what havoc, despair and discouragement can come from simply a lack of good sleep.

Don't let the constant crying of your baby and sleepless nights rob you of the joy that should be yours. Get a white noise machine and get your joy back. Find the delight of sleeping through the night as well as the delight that comes from no longer being powerless to help your baby stop crying.
