Features and Benefits

This multimeter allows both manual and auto ranging for maximum flexibility and it comes with a thermometer. It also comes with a removable holster that can store the test-lead and built-in temperature probe.

This also can measure up to 10A, 20A for up to 30 sec. It can also measure up to 1000V AC and DC. I can also measure up to 200 kHz and percentage duty cycle. It has a filter that can tune out excess noise that can interfere with the measurements.

The Fluke 87 multimeter has a large digital display with a bright backlight. This makes it easier to read than previous models.

This device even comes with a built-in thermometer so you can test refrigerator and A/C temperatures without having to get a new device. It's also a safe device. It is CAT IV 600V/CAT III 1000V rated, it can handle impulses over 8,000 volts.

This is a great tool to have around especially if you have car battery problems, alternator problems or really any kind of electrical needs in your house, car or boat. I used one when my furnace was out to figure out with if it was my thermostat that wasn't triggering the furnace by testing the voltage that was coming out of there.

I also used it quite a bit when I had a short in my car that was draining the car battery when the car was shut off. It ended up killing my alternator, but it was good to have to see how the different repairs on the car were working out.

I finally discovered that it was a trunk light that wasn't shutting off when I shut the trunk door. It ended up being a very simple problem and solution. I just took the light bulb completely out. According to my mechanic, it could have been a lot worse and a lot more difficult to find and get to. Everyone should have one in their house, and you can't get much better than a Fluke 87.

Fluke Corporation

I can't tell you enough the great reputation that this company has among professionals. They're products are consistently trusted and continue to receive recognition for their quality engineering.

I remember my mechanic being so proud to be using a Fluke multimeter to check the voltage on my car battery when my alternator needed to be replaced. It was much more than a professional acknowledgement that it was a good product. There was pride in ownership that I rarely see these days.

In 2009 they won the Grand Award from Plant Engineering. They also won the Gold Award for the Automation and Control category and the Instrumentation category. They also won several awards from the Consulting-Specifying Engineer.

Fluke was established in 1948 and has held the top positions in every market category that are in. Their sales is a testament to their quality engineering.  Today they are leaders in the Industrial/Electronic Service Installation and Maintenance, Electrical and Temperature, Indoor Air Quality, and Calibration market segments.

Isn't "Fluke" a term that is usually associated with something that doesn't work or is fake? Maybe I have definitions wrong.

Hahaha, that's a good point. No you are correct, that's what it usually means. Maybe it was meant to be a form of irony?

The Fluke 87-V is a great quality meter. After having to replace a couple of cheap meters that didn't last I finally purchased a fluke. It wasn't cheap but it has a lifetime warranty.

By the way, the bottom picture was taken by me. I posted it for my product review on Amazon. That's my logitech G15 keyboard in the background :)

Nice job on the hub!
