Hubpages and Amazon Affiliates
The Amazon Affiliate Program is one of the affiliate programs that Hubpages works directly with to provide a money making outlet for it's writers, along with Google Adsense and Ebay. In fact there are many people on Hubpages who are making more money on the Amazon Affiliate Program than they are on Google Adsense.
Both affiliate programs are a really great way to make money on Hubpages, but both have it's advantages and disadvantages as well as different strategies you must use to make money from them.
One of the great advantages to using the Amazon Affiliate program is that you can potentially get a higher payout per conversion. If someone clicks on a flat screen TV link on your Amazon Affiliate link and buy, you will get a larger payout than if the same person clicked on a Google Adsense ad for the same product.
In any case, Hubpages offers a great head start if you've been wanting to become an Amazon Affiliate.
Hubpages Already Setup for Amazon
If you're not a technical guru or don't have a clue on how to build a website and put Amazon product banners and advertisements on your blog, Hubpages is the perfect place for you. The Amazon capsules on Hubpages make it very easy to start promoting Amazon products.
You can search by product keywords or you can go to Amazon.com and search for specific products. When you find the one you want, you can then copy and paste the URL into the Amazon capsule on your hub. Abracadabra, the product now shows up on your hub. Now each time someone clicks on that ad and they buy that product, you get a commission off that sale, again usually higher than they had gone through a Google Adsense ad.
Doing this process with your own website can become tedious and very time consuming as many who do this can testify to. Ad placement can be especially difficult if you're working in html code, especially if you don't know how to do html coding to begin with. Placing Amazon affiliate ads on Hubpages is as simple as researching products and placing them in the Hubpages capsules.
Easier to Get Traffic on Hubpages
If you build your own website, you'd have to do a bunch of technical stuff to get it search engine optimized. Although it doesn't mean you don't have to do any SEO on Hubpages, they've done most of the hard technical work for you. Yes, you still need to promote your hub and create back-links, but you don't have to worry about code, getting a domain, hosting, paying for domains and hosting and other stuff like that. You can also do those things, but if you're starting out, Hubpages has done all that hard work already.
By the way Hubpages doesn't take a cut from your Amazon sales, it's 100% yours. They only take 60% of your page impressions, but everything else is yours.
Also, Hubpages has a large and growing community of users. Additionally, they have a high page rank with Google to begin with and is listed and indexed as a credible domain. Instead of fighting to get indexed by Google all the time, you can simply leverage their work.
Getting your website or blog indexed into Google is not that complicated, but it's a lot of work and it takes time to learn how to do it properly. Doing Amazon Affiliate work on Hubpages gives you a short cut by not having to worry about that stuff.
No Up Front Costs
This is the best part. Hubpages is free to use. That means you can start making money as an Amazon Affiliate without putting in your own money. If you choose to do that later on for more money, you should. But if you can't make money as an Amazon Affiliate on Hubpages for free first, with all the tools and advantages they give you, then you shouldn't put money into it.
If you want start making money as an Amazon Affiliate sign up for Hubpages. It's free. There aren't many opportunities in life to make money for free. Hubpages gives you that opportunity and there's also tons of help that the Hubpages community offers very generously.
